Truck accident leaves one dead and three injured

Individuals driving semi trucks or any vehicle pulling a large load often need to be more acutely aware of their surroundings than other drivers. One late reaction or wrong move can spell disaster of other smaller vehicles on the road. This was the case on Oct. 12 when Florida Highway Patrol responded to reports of a truck accident.

Around 6:45 a.m., authorities received a call about an accident involving five vehicles. The accident occurred on State Road 710, which is a two-lane road. Upon arriving at the scene, police saw that the accident involved a large milk truck and four pickup trucks. The milk truck, which was empty at the time, appeared to have been heading westbound, and all four pickup trucks appeared to have been heading east.

Authorities speculate that the milk truck drifted across the center line and hit the four trucks. Drivers of the first three trucks only sustained minor injuries. Two were sent to Martin Memorial South Hospital and the third was sent to Raulerson Hospital. However, the driver of the last pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash is still under investigation.

Because of one driver's mistake, three people are now burdened with unexpected medical bills and one family is faced with the daunting task of planning a funeral. Florida residents who are victims of a truck accident may consider speaking with a professional. An attorney may be able to help accident victims to seek compensation in order to help ease the financial burdens of repairs, medical bills or funeral costs.
